Our Organic Smoked paprika is made from freshly harvested peppers and smoked for over 15 days - with a vibrant fresh full flavour. Our Smoked Paprika adds vibrant color to any dish and can be sprinkled as a garnish over deviled eggs or potato salad, or in paellas or rice. It's clay red colour is richer than cayenne pepper, it's flavour is much milder, and it has a characteristic sweetness. Organic Smoked Paprika is a favourite ingredient in many starters, sides and entrees.
Smoked Paprika can be used to add a unique flavor to a wide variety of different foods. One easy method for preparing French fries is to sprinkle them with olive oil, and then dust them with garlic, oregano, black pepper and smokey paprika. Place them on a baking sheet and bake for an excellent taste and reduced calories from the traditional deep fried version. The above seasoning combination can also be used on garlic bread. Another popular dish, potato salad, often gets an extra zip from this colorful spice. Onion rings, made from flavorful sweet onions such as Walla Walla's or Vidalia's, dusted with paprika are a summertime favorite. Marinades for seafood benefit from this fragrant spice. Fried chicken loves the addition of our Organic Smoked Paprika to the seasoning mix that makes up its flour and buttermilk coating.

“How long do spices last?”
Depends on both the type of spice and the conditions under which they are stored. Correctly dried and stored spices do not actually spoil. But over time, they will lose their potency, aroma and flavour.
As a general rule, ground spices begin to lose the potency of their aroma and flavour in about 6 months. Gently smell before using, to assess the freshness of your spices. You'll want to replace ground spices after about 1 yr. You can also store in the freezer if you can keep spices air tight. This may extend the freshness of your spices for a few months, but they are always best when kept current and used at room temperature.
Here are some tips for maximising the shelf life of your spices:
• Store in an airtight container.
• Store in a cool, dark cupboard.
• Store away from direct heat, sunlight and moisture.
• Keep lid tightly closed when not in use.
