Organic Brown Lentils are edible legumes from a bushy annual plant known for its lens-shaped seeds growing in pods. They are the most common form of lentil and have a mild earthy flavour. Brown organic, vegan, wheat-free, and gluten-free, Lentils are an excellent source of protein, fiber, and iron. Lentils are high in soluble fiber, which may help to lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, and stabilize blood sugar levels.
Like pasta, Organic Brown Lentils can be cooked in a pot of boiling, salted water. Brown lentils cook for approximately 30 minutes (tender with a slight bite), or until desired texture. Earthy and mild in flavor, brown lentils are also tender in texture. Cooked brown lentils can be used as an alternative to meat in recipes to create vegetarian meals; they can also be used as an addition to salads and soups. Brown lentils blend or mash easily to add texture, thickness, and depth to recipes as well.
For optimum freshness keep in a cool place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Store in a tightly sealed container. Please note, our packaging is biodegrable, and is not suitable for long term storage. We suggest you transfer your products to a sealed container upon receipt.
